Hello Everyone,
Here are some NSSC updates as of 11/20/08:
1) There is no practice at any location on Friday 11/21/08, due
to the swim meet.
2) November 21-23, 2008 Swim Meet: Please note the following
information for this weekends meet at Salem State College:
* Parent work schedule is posted. If your child is swimming you are expected
to help with the running of the meet.
* All warm up times are correct. The only change was the Sunday afternoon
warm is scheduled for 1:00 warm up/ 2:00 PM start. Please be 15 minutes
early for warm up!
* All information is posted online:
3) Clothing: Anyone who has ordered clothing is asked to
set a time with Dan or Tony regarding pick up. If anyone would like to order
sweatshirts, T-shirts, or suits for Christmas you asked to submit a clothing
form. Orders will be filled on a first come first serve basis, based on
supplies.
4) Coaches notes on recent practices:
* Please make sure children are arriving on time for practices. This is
especially true for 15 and under
swimmers who rely on transportation from parents or carpools.
* Swimmers are responsible for their equipment at practice. Bringing to
practice and taking home!
*
All swimmers are encouraged and expected to have water bottles at practices.
* Parents are expected to walk their
children into the buildings and pick up at the pool, not in the parking
lots.
* Swimmers should be arriving no earlier
than 15 minutes before practice and should be picked up no later than 15
minutes after a practice finishes.
5) Dual
Meet information and requirements:
NSSC is happy
to offer dual meets for your child to participate in. These meets are
effective, fun ways to get your child introduced to competitive swimming.
Meets are usually no more than 2 hours long. The format is set up similar to
the USA meets. They are once per month through March. They are on the
following dates: 12/7, 1/11, 2/1 with the Championship Meet 3/15/09. If your
swimmer is new to the sport of swimming, these meets are a great way to get
a "feel" for competition in a little lighter format. To attend the
championship meet you must attend 3 of the 4 meets. This
Championship meet is at the Springfield JCC. All age groups get awards for
the top 12 finishers per event. The competition is high but not as deep. We
hope to get more involvement of newer swimmers to the dual meets! If you are
interested in attending next Sunday's meet, please make out the meet
schedule form that is posted online:
Sincerely,
Tony Padvaiskas
